To celebrate 90 years since the Representation of the People Act 1928, Dudley Youth Council will be holding an EqualiTea event  for Dudley residents.

The national EqualiTea initiative has been developed by the Houses of Parliament’s Education and Engagement Service, and aims to celebrate the introduction of the Act, introduced by the government in 1928, which gave men and women over 21 the right to vote .

Dudley Youth Council member and event manager Amman Ahmed states “ This event will bring people together to discuss, contribute and debate their thoughts on equality and how far we have come in the past 90 years over tea and cake at Gather café; a fantastic venue for community participation. Dudley is a diverse community full of inspiring and thoughtful people and the Youth Council and I are looking forward to giving individuals and families the space to enjoy themselves, whilst connecting with others on the important issue that is equality.

The EqualiTea event will take place at Gather CIC on Dudley high street, on Saturday 30th June between 12pm – 2pm and will include a number of performances, along with an opportunity for residents to win £20 in high street vouchers by taking part in an equality quiz.
