What is verification and why should you verify your page?
A Facebook verified page is a page that has a blue tick that can be seen next to a pages profile picture. This blue tick notifies online Facebook fans that your business or charity is a legitimate brand. By going through the Facebook verification process you can are build trust with your audience and increase the possiblity of showing up higher in search engine listings.
Pages can be verified by Facebook to let people know that they’re authentic: If you see a blue badge on a Page or profile, it means that Facebook confirmed that this is the authentic Page or profile for this public figure, media company or brand.
To begin the verification process, go to Page Verification on the right hand side of the screen and click Verify this Page
The following box will appear.
Check that your business phone number is correct and click Call me Now.
* Verification can only be done using a landline. Mobile phone numbers will not work.
Once a landline telephone number has been inputted and the ‘Call Now’ button pressed, you will receive a telephone call from Facebook with a verification code.
This code will need to be added to the verification code text box
Answer the call from Facebook and add the verification number given on the phone, into the next box that appears on your Facebook Page.
After you have entered a code, click continue. Your page should now be verified.
Verify using documents
If you are not able to use a telephone number to verify your Facebook business page, it is also possible to update official documentation so that Facebook can assess these and verify your page for you.
After you after selected the verify page option within your settings, click the ‘Verify this page with documents instead’ text that appears at the bottom left hand corner of the box that appears on screen.
Facebook specifies that the following documents are required to verify your page:
Business utility or phone bill
Business tax file
Certificate of formation
Articles of incorporation
These can be uploaded by clicking the ‘Upload File’ button.
Another pop up box will appear confirming receipt of your documents and that Facebook will review your request and send you an email to confirm your verification, within a few days.
